Octopi, oh my!

Dave and I took a date night to the Sea Life Aquarium in Mall of America last month and I got to hang out near the cutest octopi and rays! I seriously sat down on the floor and watched the octopi for minutes upon minutes....and it was amazing.

.WIW: simple summer.

 Sometimes in the summer you just need that dress where you can put it on and go, this is that dress for me. I have had this dress for a few years and have even contemplated retiring it, but it calls my name and I welcome it back to the closet from the donation pile.

One of the best things about a simple black dress is that you can accessorize it different ways and make a variety of outfits. All you need is a cardigan and a scarf, and POOF a cute, summer outfit!

I'm SOOOOOOOOOO freakin' excited to see this guy today! 

Josiah has been one of my best friends for a long time,

actually all the way back to 8th grade honor pass, to be exact! 

Josiah has been part of the BIG things in my life, he was even our roommate when SHOAVE moved to Virginia. 

When Shoaved moved from Virginia to Australia in summer of 2011,

we had to say "see ya later" to Josiah. It has been since then that we have seen Josiah. 

THIS is FAR TO LONG...I can't wait for our reunion today!!

(even if it's only for a few hours)

We could maybe even have a spoof of the Cruel Intentions...

WIW: lace and spikes

I won't lie to you, when I saw this dress on Asos Curve clearance I didn't hesitate to add it to my basket. Nope, didn't hesitate for even one second..it was love at first sight. I didn't have anything in my closet that was this lady like and it desperately needed it, I could hear it begging me to get it. 

The dress came with a little brown belt, but I opted to use a black belt that I had instead. I feel like the belt black makes it look more sophisticated, which was what I wanted for the bridal shower I was attending. The brown belt would be nice for just a summer day outfit. 

.I couldn't capture the way the dress moves, this was my best attempt!.

I played around with a little contradiction with my accessories. I have the sweet little bow necklace and hair pin to go with the lace dress and then added a little 'roughness' with spiky  shoes and studded clutch. I love playing with textures and what may be unexpected.

WIW: with a cherry on top

Even though it is pretty warm and humid out, I still wear my jeans with a lightweight sweater....cause I'm a little crazy. Actually, I work where (sometimes) it is air conditioned and I can be at the perfect temperature to wear this outfit.  If I get warm, I just roll up the sleeves and am on my way. 

You would not believe how many compliments on get on this sweater from both coworkers and customers. It's the perfect basic sweater, which I think it was makes it appealing to so many people. I love pairing this sweater with my red skinny jeans because I believe it gives it a POP and makes more of a statement!

.this is the first time I wore my hair down in MONTHS.......haaa.
